The adorable dwarf Agassizi cichlids surely liven up your freshwater aquarium by not only its noticeable yellow body but also cool personalities.
Yellow agassizi (Apistogramma cf. agassizii Yellow) highlights itself with a fairly round body covered with bright yellow coloration, shimmering dots randomly found in the middle to its tail. Under different angles, its fins may reflect slight crystal orange hues.
Agassizi dwarf cichlids love densely planted aquariums decorated with sandy substrates and abundant caves or the like (clay pots, driftwood, and rock formations). Yet, a fair amount of open space should be available for them to swim and hang around. The species is regarded intermediate to difficult to care for because of their vulnerability to fluctuations in pH levels and temperature. Therefore, creating and maintaining a stable living environment for these fish is very crucial. Yellow agassizi cichlids thrive in soft and acidic water with low nitrate levels. Water quality should be strictly monitored in good conditions and tested frequently to ensure it is always under control. Besides, be careful with medications and stuff you put into your fish tank as they may potentially contain contaminants which easily cause harm to them.
Although the Agassizi dwarf cichlids are pretty picky in the matter of care, they capture many aquarists’ hearts simply because they are community fish. Unlike other cichlids species, they are not actually aggressive and able to live in harmony with other fish that share the similar size and temperaments (for example, cardinal tetras, otocinclus, pencil fish, kuhli loach, dwarf rainbowfish, etc.). They can even live in groups if your freshwater aquarium is large enough, normally with a ratio of one male to three or four females.
