DARK RED LUDWIGIA
You can consider Dark Red Ludwigia (Ludwigia repens) if you are searching for a color-striking species to your aquarium. Since Dark Red Ludwigia, with the olive green in the top area of the leaves slowly turning into brownish red or deep red when coming near the stem, will certainly meet up your expectation.
Dark Red Ludwigia is very fast-growing and low-maintenance. It thrives to its best and produces the optimal red coloration when kept under high lighting conditions. That said, the plant bears poorly lit aquariums. In this case, you may not have the red hue effect, instead Dark Red Ludwigia’s leaves will develop more green coloration.
Under appropriate conditions (soft, slightly acidic water with temperature in the range of 75° – 79°F), Dark Red Ludwigia will grow aggressively and act as an effective waste removal ‘device’ which helps clean your tank water. Further, it also provides a great cover and hiding places for fish and dwarf shrimp, especially during breeding season.
While planting, you should notice to give a small interval between each stem so the plant is able to access more light and grow to its best.
